Bang Bar by Momofuku is scheduled to close at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Oct. 4, 2026. The counter is in Block 16 Urban Food Hall, where a new concept from Momofuku and China Palace Group is planned to open in 2027.
The closure will end Bang Bar’s run at the food hall, but it will not shut down Block 16. The new restaurant is planned for the same space, though the partners have not publicly detailed its name, menu or opening date beyond the 2027 target, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s report on the announcement.
That makes this more than an empty-counter story. One Momofuku concept is leaving, and another is expected to take its place. For Strip diners, the handoff is the part to watch.
What is changing at Block 16?
Bang Bar serves griddled flatbread wraps and rice bowls with options including roasted pork, teriyaki chicken, spicy eggplant and galbi beef. The restaurant’s Las Vegas page places it inside Block 16 at The Cosmopolitan. The resort describes Bang Bar as a quick-service option with flatbread sandwiches, rice bowls and spit-roasted meats.
The concept opened in April 2021, taking the spot previously occupied by Pok Pok Wing, the Review-Journal reported. Its planned exit is a change to one vendor, not a shutdown of the food hall or of The Cosmopolitan’s broader dining operation.
A food hall built around different choices
Block 16 groups a range of food and drink concepts in one place, letting visitors choose different meals without splitting up to find separate restaurants. The resort’s Block 16 directory lists other concepts including District: Donuts. Sliders. Brew., Ghost Donkey, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken and Lardo.
That variety is part of the appeal, especially when a group wants quick options rather than a single sit-down menu. One counter changing hands can shift the mix, but it does not erase the food hall’s other choices. Block 16 remains a collection of separate vendors, not one restaurant with one kitchen.
For guests who have Bang Bar on their itinerary, the date matters. Its scheduled final day is Oct. 4. The restaurant and resort have online listings, but visitors planning a meal close to the closing date should check current operating information before making the trip. Listings and hours can change, and a dining plan is only useful if the counter is serving.
A replacement is planned, but details are still ahead
The announced plan calls for Momofuku and China Palace Group to open another concept in Bang Bar’s space in 2027. That gives the counter a next chapter, even if the details remain under wraps. No new concept name, menu or exact opening day was included in the local report on MGM Resorts’ announcement.
It is worth keeping the distinction clear: a planned 2027 opening is not a specific launch date. Until the partners share more, diners should not treat any proposed menu or timing as final. The confirmed outline is the Oct. 4 closure followed by a new concept planned for the following year.
The change also keeps Momofuku’s presence at The Cosmopolitan in view. The Review-Journal reported that the flagship Momofuku restaurant at the resort will remain after Bang Bar closes. Bang Bar’s scheduled exit is therefore a change to one format, not the end of the brand’s Strip presence.
Why this handoff matters for Strip diners
The Strip’s dining lineup is not frozen in place. Resorts refresh their offerings, and food halls make those changes easy to spot: one counter leaves, another is expected, and regulars have to adjust their usual order. That churn can be frustrating when a favorite is involved. It can also bring a new reason to stop by.
Here, the next step is already planned, but the specifics are not. The replacement could give Block 16 a new menu and a different feel, but the partners have not yet described what diners should expect. For now, the practical takeaway is simple: Bang Bar is set to close Oct. 4, Block 16 is staying open, and a new Momofuku and China Palace Group concept is planned for 2027.
The counter will change. The food hall keeps moving.
