Metallica’s 10 October Sphere shows overlap with several conventions and events already scheduled in Las Vegas.

Metallica is scheduled to play 10 shows at Sphere in Las Vegas this October, turning the band’s opening residency run into a monthlong concert calendar with several confirmed conventions nearby on the calendar. The shows fall on Oct. 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31.

The band first announced eight October performances as part of its Life Burns Faster residency. Two more October dates, Oct. 8 and 10, were later added. Metallica’s official announcement says the residency has since grown to 24 shows, with more performances scheduled from November 2026 through March 2027.

That makes October more than an opening-weekend story. Metallica’s Thursday-and-Saturday schedule stretches across five consecutive weekends, while conventions and other gatherings are also on the books. The dates provide a clear planning signal for visitors, but they do not prove every weekend will be unusually crowded or that hotel prices and traffic will rise by a specific amount.

Ten dates stretch Metallica across the month

The Sphere’s Metallica listing identifies the residency as Life Burns Faster. The schedule follows the band’s No Repeat Weekend format, with a Thursday and Saturday show in each of five October weeks. Metallica says songs will not repeat within each Thursday-Saturday pair.

It is a steady run, not a single concert blast. The first pair lands Oct. 1 and 3. The last is Oct. 29 and 31, giving fans a Halloween-night date. For Las Vegas, that puts the band’s first month at Sphere across five weekends and multiple midweek periods, rather than concentrating the performances into one short visit.

October dates, at a glance

  • Oct. 1 and 3
  • Oct. 8 and 10
  • Oct. 15 and 17
  • Oct. 22 and 24
  • Oct. 29 and 31

Sphere is at 255 Sands Ave., beside The Venetian Resort. Its location puts the venue near the Strip’s resort corridor, but visitors should not assume that a short distance on a map means a quick trip on an event night. Check the venue’s official visit information before setting transportation plans.

Which October events overlap?

Several announced events put more dates on the city’s October calendar. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s 2026 event roundup lists HallowScreamCon at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Oct. 1 through 4. That overlaps with Metallica’s opening pair on Oct. 1 and 3.

The National Electrical Contractors Association’s 2026 convention and trade show is scheduled for Oct. 4 through 7 at Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The NACS Show lists its conference for Oct. 6 through 9 and its expo for Oct. 7 through 9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Those dates overlap with Metallica’s Oct. 8 show.

Later in the month, IMEX America is scheduled for Oct. 13 through 15 at Mandalay Bay. Its final show day coincides with Metallica’s Oct. 15 performance. These are real calendar intersections, not evidence that every attendee will be in the same part of town or that a particular weekend will sell out.

The overlap is spread across venues. Sphere is near The Venetian, while the cited conventions are at the Las Vegas Convention Center or Mandalay Bay. That distinction matters: overlapping dates can add visitors to the city without putting every event crowd on the same block or route.

A calendar overlap is not a crowd forecast

Major shows can draw visitors who book rooms, eat out and travel around the resort corridor. But the size of any effect depends on attendance, travel patterns and other events on the same dates. The dates alone do not tell us how many visitors will arrive, which hotels they will choose or how much local traffic will change.

That is why the event stack is worth watching, not a reason to declare all of October a guaranteed crush. The clearest overlap is concentrated early in the month, with additional convention activity around the Oct. 15 concert. Metallica’s remaining October dates are confirmed, but the events listed here do not establish a comparable convention overlap for each of the later weekends.

What visitors and locals should keep an eye on

Visitors can start with the specific dates: match a concert night against convention schedules, confirm lodging and transportation, and check venue guidance before heading out. Ticket availability and event details can change, so use the band’s and Sphere’s official pages for the latest information rather than relying on a calendar copied elsewhere.

Locals can use the same date-by-date approach when planning a trip through the resort corridor or booking dinner near a venue. A concert and a convention in town do not automatically mean gridlock, but knowing what is scheduled is a better bet than being surprised at the curb.

October now has 10 Metallica dates at Sphere, plus several announced conventions with genuine calendar overlaps. That is a substantial event lineup. The smart move is to plan around the dates that matter to you, not assume every weekend will be a citywide traffic jam.
