Sphere’s fall 2026 calendar has become a full Las Vegas entertainment season, led by Metallica, the Eagles, an official Formula 1 afterparty featuring the Backstreet Boys and continuing presentations of The Wizard of Oz at Sphere.
The biggest addition is Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency, which begins Oct. 1. The venue’s current calendar lists performances from October through March 13, 2027, turning what began as a fall engagement into a run spanning five months. The Eagles are also booked through Jan. 23, 2027, following fall dates in September and November.
That matters because Sphere is no longer leaning on one marquee act at a time. Its official show schedule now combines overlapping concert residencies, a film-based immersive production and a race-weekend event. In Las Vegas terms, the orb has built its own entertainment ecosystem. Subtle it is not.
Metallica and the Eagles Anchor the Fall
Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency launches Oct. 1 and carries the band’s No Repeat Weekend format into Sphere. Under that setup, songs are not repeated between each paired Thursday and Saturday performance.
The residency was first announced as an eight-show October run, with performances set for Oct. 1 and 3, Oct. 15 and 17, Oct. 22 and 24, and Oct. 29 and 31. Sphere’s current listing has grown well beyond that original block. It shows 10 October performances, two in November, two in January, six in February and four in March.
That is 24 listed performances across the full run, subject to the venue’s standard notice that dates and availability can change. For a building designed around custom visuals and tightly controlled sound, a multimonth Metallica production is a heavyweight booking in every sense.
The Eagles residency supplies the other major pillar. Sphere lists shows in September, November and December 2026, followed by January 2027 dates. The current run extends through Jan. 23.
The Eagles production uses the venue’s wraparound interior display and Sphere Immersive Sound system. That pairing is central to the venue’s pitch. These are not standard arena concerts moved into a round room. Each residency requires visual material and production choices built for the space.
A Calendar That Now Stretches Into 2027
The long tail is the real headline. Both major fall residencies continue beyond the traditional autumn concert window, giving Las Vegas visitors multiple chances to build a trip around Sphere.
It also shows how the venue’s residency model is changing. Sphere opened with U2 in September 2023, then hosted limited engagements by acts including Phish. The fall 2026 schedule is broader and longer, with major artists occupying different parts of the calendar instead of one act carrying the venue alone.
Metallica’s dates reach into March. The Eagles continue into January. The Backstreet Boys return for additional Into the Millennium residency shows from Dec. 26 through Jan. 2. Fans planning that holiday run can also use ESB’s Backstreet Boys at Sphere guide.
The result is less like a short concert series and more like a rolling Strip season. One giant screen, several fan bases and a lot of incoming carry-on bags.
Formula 1 Adds a One-Night Sphere Event
Race weekend adds another piece on Nov. 21. The official Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix afterparty will feature the Backstreet Boys at Sphere.
The event connects the venue directly to one of the busiest weekends on the Las Vegas calendar. Sphere says a limited number of race-ticket packages and add-on options are available through the event’s official sales channels.
The booking also shows how the venue can operate outside the usual residency format. Metallica and the Eagles are building extended concert runs. The Backstreet Boys event is tied to a specific citywide weekend. Same room, different playbook.
Visitors should treat the afterparty and the group’s late-December residency dates as separate engagements. Tickets, entry terms and availability can differ by event.
The Wizard of Oz Keeps the Immersive Side Running
Concerts are only part of the schedule. The Wizard of Oz at Sphere remains on sale as the venue’s featured immersive production.
The presentation adapts the classic film for Sphere rather than screening it as a conventional movie. The venue promotes a wraparound visual environment and effects that can include seat movement, wind, scent, fog, intense lighting and loud sound. Guests with medical concerns should review the event guidance before buying tickets.
Keeping the production in rotation gives Sphere daytime and nonconcert programming alongside evening residencies. It also widens the audience beyond fans traveling for a specific band. Dorothy by day, metal by night. Only in Vegas.
What Ticket Buyers Should Know
Sphere uses mobile tickets, and the venue recommends adding them to a phone’s digital wallet before arrival. Doors for the listed Metallica and Eagles concerts open 90 minutes before showtime.
Prices and availability vary by performance, so there is no single reliable price range for the entire fall schedule. Buyers should use links from Sphere’s official show pages and confirm the event date before completing a purchase. The venue notes that content, dates, times, prices and availability are subject to change.
Guests should also check the specific event page for age guidance, bag rules, accessibility services and special-effects warnings. The building’s technology is the selling point, but it can produce intense sensory conditions. A little planning beats learning about the wind effect from your seat.
Why the Fall Schedule Matters for Las Vegas
Sphere opened to the public on Sept. 29, 2023, with a 160,000-square-foot interior LED display and a 580,000-square-foot exterior known as the Exosphere. The building quickly became a skyline marker, but the fall 2026 calendar shows that its programming model is still expanding.
The venue is now carrying several kinds of entertainment at once: long concert residencies, a one-night event connected to Formula 1 and a recurring immersive production. Its biggest fall engagements also extend into the next year, keeping the calendar active well beyond a single announcement cycle.
That is how Sphere keeps landing in Las Vegas entertainment news. The building grabs attention from the outside. The schedule has to keep earning it inside. This fall, the orb is booked for both jobs.
