Las Vegas will have to wait another year for HallowScreamCon.
The Halloween-season entertainment convention and its companion citywide festival, HallowScreamFest, will not take place Oct. 1 through 4, 2026, as originally announced. Organizers have postponed the debut until fall 2027, meaning visitors should remove the 2026 event from their travel plans rather than start shopping for capes, fake fangs or a hotel room with space for six foam swords.
The current HallowScreamCon event page lists a planned run from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, 2027. The project remains ambitious, with organizers describing a broad celebration of entertainment, fandom and Halloween spread across multiple Las Vegas locations. However, the venue is no longer confirmed as the Las Vegas Convention Center, and several important details remain unsettled.
Why was HallowScreamCon postponed?
Organizers announced the postponement after what they described as six weeks of evaluation and unsuccessful attempts to preserve the 2026 launch. They cited global conflict, higher travel and transportation costs, and broader economic pressure as reasons for delaying the event.
In announcing the move, the organizers said the additional time would help them avoid delivering a compromised version of a project they have spent years developing. That is a tough break for anyone who had circled October 2026, but it is also a more honest outcome than opening the doors before the event is ready. Back home, we would call that measuring twice before cutting a very expensive, monster-shaped board.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the original concept was intended to operate at multiple venues around the city. The 2026 convention listing had identified the Las Vegas Convention Center, but that specific venue should no longer be treated as confirmed for 2027.
Is there still a Las Vegas event planned?
Yes, but it should be viewed as a developing 2027 event rather than a locked-down convention with every logistical detail in place.
The official site says HallowScreamCon and HallowScreamFest are planned for Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, 2027. The accompanying Universe event page also displays those dates, but it lists the location as “TBC,” meaning it is still to be confirmed. That page currently offers a waitlist rather than a conventional selection of admission passes.
There is also a small calendar wrinkle worth watching. Some event descriptions call the project a four-day gathering even though the displayed range from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 covers parts of five calendar days. Until organizers publish a complete schedule, visitors should rely on the posted date range and avoid making assumptions about public hours on each day.
What is HallowScreamCon supposed to include?
Despite the name, the concept reaches beyond a standard horror convention. Organizers describe HallowScreamCon as an entertainment mega-con built around immersive themed areas. The proposed subjects include film, television, music, games, sports, anime, fashion, special effects, art, animation, food, horror and Halloween.
The current plan calls for 21 immersive zones, effectively a collection of smaller themed conventions within the larger event. Organizers also envision celebrity appearances, panels, attractions, contests and a vendor village. Those are plans, not a final program. Guest names, participating vendors, schedules and individual attractions have not been fully published for the rescheduled event.
HallowScreamFest is intended to carry the concept beyond convention spaces and into other parts of Las Vegas, including the Strip and Downtown. The organizers describe it as a collection of curated experiences at venues around the city. Exactly which venues will participate, and which activities will require separate admission, remain open questions.
That citywide approach is the part that feels especially Vegas. Plenty of towns can put folding tables in a ballroom and invite folks to buy autographs. Las Vegas has the stages, attractions and general willingness to let a seven-foot creature walk through a casino lobby without causing much concern. If the full concept comes together, the setting could be one of the event’s biggest strengths.
What should ticket holders and travelers do now?
Anyone who previously registered, joined a list or made a purchase connected to the 2026 event should review messages from the event organizer or ticketing platform. Policies can depend on the original transaction, so guests should not assume that an old registration automatically becomes admission for 2027.
- Do not travel for the former 2026 dates. The Oct. 1 through 4, 2026, debut has been postponed.
- Wait for a confirmed venue. The current ticketing page lists the 2027 location as still to be confirmed.
- Check hotel terms carefully. Flexible or refundable reservations are the sensible choice while venues and schedules remain in development.
- Treat guest and attraction plans as preliminary. A final lineup has not been released.

Travelers should also resist the urge to interpret the waitlist page as proof that ordinary tickets are sold out. What details still need to be announced?
The biggest unanswered question is location. HallowScreamCon was previously associated with the Las Vegas Convention Center, while HallowScreamFest was designed as a wider city event. The current official materials now refer more generally to locations across Las Vegas, and the ticketing page does not name a venue.
Organizers also still need to provide a detailed daily schedule, admission options, age guidance, accessibility information, refund or transfer terms, and a confirmed roster of guests and attractions. Those details will determine whether the project functions like one giant convention, a collection of separately ticketed events or some combination of the two.
The new bottom line for Las Vegas
HallowScreamCon is not coming to the Las Vegas Convention Center in October 2026. The current plan is for HallowScreamCon and HallowScreamFest to debut across Las Vegas from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, 2027, with the exact venue lineup still pending.
There is plenty in the concept to get excited about. A citywide celebration combining Halloween, movies, games, art, performance and immersive attractions sounds as naturally Vegas as putting a chandelier over a blackjack table. Still, this is the moment for cautious enthusiasm, not nonrefundable bookings.
Mark the new year in pencil, watch for confirmed venues and wait for the updated ticket details. The monsters may still be headed to Las Vegas. They are simply taking the long way around.
