The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has made its pickleball move, but this is not a future pool-deck conversion waiting for an opening whistle. The resort’s rooftop courts are already open on Level 14 of The Chelsea Tower.
The official name is The Courts at The Cosmopolitan. The setup includes two pickleball courts and one doubles tennis court, all positioned beside The Chelsea Fitness Center. BODYARMOR is the venue’s hydration partner.
That distinction matters. The courts are not replacing Boulevard Pool, and the resort has not announced a separate venue called The Perch. Boulevard Pool remains a rooftop pool and social space with cabanas, daybeds, food and beverage service, and its own operating schedule.
So what is the real play in 2026? It is simpler and more believable. The Cosmopolitan has refreshed an existing rooftop sports area, added dedicated pickleball capacity and opened the experience to more than overnight guests. No mystery concept. No ceremonial first serve still months away. The ball is already in play.
What Players Actually Get
The court package is built around convenience. Players get a dramatic Strip backdrop without leaving the resort corridor, and equipment use is included under the access terms announced when the courts debuted in November 2025.
The Cosmopolitan says court time is reserved by the hour. Hotel guests can book in advance through spa reservations or at The Chelsea Fitness Center. Guests staying at other MGM Resorts properties also received access under the launch policy, with the rental included in the applicable resort fee.
MGM Rewards members at Gold tier or higher were offered complimentary rentals with equipment included. Non-hotel guests, including Las Vegas locals, were quoted a launch rate of $50 per hour with equipment. Public bookings were limited to the same day, while resort guests and qualifying rewards members could reserve earlier.

Where the Sports-and-Sips Angle Stops
This is where we pump the brakes on the bottle-service talk.
The Cosmopolitan has not announced a dedicated full-service bar, lounge, food-and-beverage minimum or VIP bottle-service program for The Courts. Its launch announcement said BODYARMOR sports drinks would be available for purchase on-site. That is hydration, not a new rooftop cocktail club.
There is also no announced calendar of professional exhibitions, branded pickleball tournaments or clinics tied to the PPA Tour or Major League Pickleball. Private group buyouts are available, which creates room for corporate outings, celebrations and organized matches. Still, that is different from a confirmed professional event program.
The venue can absolutely serve a social crowd. Pickleball is built for doubles, short games and plenty of sideline chatter. But the verified experience is court rental with a killer view, not a fully announced sports-and-sips destination. Call it what it is. A rooftop amenity with public access and commercial upside.
How the Business Model Works
The revenue strategy does not need a cocktail shaker to make sense.
For hotel guests, rooftop pickleball adds another activity to the resort package. That can make a stay more attractive to active travelers, groups and guests looking for something beyond the casino floor. For MGM Rewards members, complimentary access gives higher-tier customers another reason to spend time on the property.
For everybody else, the hourly rental creates direct court revenue. Private buyouts add another lane. BODYARMOR’s involvement also shows how a resort amenity can double as a branded sports platform without requiring a major new building.
That is a tidy Vegas parlay. Existing space gets a visual refresh. A sponsor gains exposure. Guests receive another amenity. Locals and non-guests can pay to play when reservations are available.
What cannot be measured publicly is the size of the payoff. MGM Resorts has not released revenue projections, utilization figures or food-and-beverage sales connected to the courts. Describing the facility as a major new revenue stream would run ahead of the scoreboard. It is more accurate to call it a modest monetization and guest-engagement play with room to grow.
Why Pickleball Still Fits the Bet
The sport’s growth gives the strategy some muscle. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association’s 2024 State of Pickleball report said U.S. participation rose 51.8 percent from 2022 to 2023. It also found growth across every age group, with players ages 25 to 34 representing the largest single group in 2023.
That broad appeal is gold for a Strip resort. Pickleball can work for couples, convention groups, bachelor parties, families and competitive players. The learning curve is manageable, games move quickly and a one-hour reservation fits neatly between brunch and a show.
Vegas has learned how to package sports at every level. Sometimes that means an NHL arena shaking during the playoffs. Sometimes it means four players chasing a plastic ball on a roof. Different scale. Same principle. Give people a reason to stay, play and spend.
